Area of Operation: Portland

Living amongst the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest has been the catalyst for my unique landscapes, which have been likened to “Grant Wood on acid.” Imbued at once with both a lush sensuality and an edgy geometry, my colorful, graphic landscapes hearken back to the 1930s’ regionalist style of such artists as Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood. Color and shape are my obsessions and delights, as is experimenting with new materials. Previously I have worked in fiber art and was a member of Portland’s High Fiber Diet. Art studies include Massachusetts College of Art (BFA), Boston; Parson’s School of Design, NYC; and Ubud, Bali. My art has been collected by hospitals, health and healing centers, and wineries throughout the Pacific Northwest. In my workshops, I encourage a comfortable, fun and inclusive environment so that each participant may discover what is uniquely delightful to them. Having spent many hours in the studio playing with and getting to know oil pastel, I enjoy teaching others about ways to integrate oil pastels with paint, mediums, gels and grounds.
