Paint Products:

  • Regular Gel (Semi-Gloss)
  • Fluid Interference Oxide Green (Yellow Shade)
Brushes and Tools:
  • Lace
  • Palette or spackle knives

Painting Instructions:

Step 1.  Mix Regular Gel with Interference Oxide Green (Yellow Shade) at a ratio of 5:1.

Step 2.  Lay the lace across the surface and tape edges down to secure the lace from moving.

Step 3.  Using your palette knife, spread the mixture over the lace at desired thickness, suggested thickness of 1/4”.  Remove the tape from the edges of the lace.  Gently lift the top corners of the lace and slowly pull the lace in one direction.  Be careful not to drop the lace back onto the wet surface.  Allow to dry.

Note: When applying this technique to a large surface, having another person to handle the lace can be very helpful!

Clean Up:  Wash hands and tools in soap and water.  Keep tools wet while working to prevent permanent adhesion of the acrylic materials.

Surface Preparation:

General: A clean, wax free, non-greasy surface is recommended.  High gloss surfaces may need scuffing to improve adhesion.  GOLDEN Glaze is formulated to work best over a satin sheen base coat.  Gels and texture products may be put over any sheen base coat.

Masonry/Stucco: New masonry needs to be fully cured and primed with a suitable masonry primer.

Wood: Raw wood may be painted or stained directly, but be aware that water based materials can cause grain raising.  See “General” instructions above for guidance on previously painted surfaces.

Metal: Painting direct to metal requires a suitable primer for the specific metal type.  See “General” instructions above for guidance on previously painted surfaces.

Glass: Painting direct to glass is possible; primers and GOLDEN GAC 200 aid in adhesion.

Fabric, Canvas, and Paper: Paint direct or use GOLDEN Mediums as a size, to increase launderability or seal the surface.

Important: Golden Artist Colors provides these recipes as points of departure for exploring Golden products in faux finishing applications.

GOLDEN strongly recommends samples be created before attempting to apply these techniques to walls, some techniques will be difficult to remove or to cover at a later date.
