Paint Products:

  • Fluid Acrylic Permanent Violet Dark
  • Fluid Acrylic Iridescent Silver

Brushes and Tools:

  • Foam Roller
  • Rocker Grainer

Painting Instructions:

Step 1.  Basecoat surface with Fluid Permanent Violet Dark using a foam roller.
Allow to dry.

Step 2.   You will want to practice this step before you start. *Using a foam roller roll on Fluid Iridescent Silver, covering the entire surface.  Use the rocker grainer starting from the top left corner.  Position grainer at top of your surface, pull or gently drag grainer towards you, rocking slowly, back and forth. Repeat, dragging on next portion until entire surface is grained. Position your grainer differently each time to scatter the appearance of each row. Let dry.

*Mix Acrylic Glazing Liquid at a 1:1 ratio with a Fluid Color for practice. This addition will keep your paint applications wet longer, and allow you to practice dragging. After a few attempts, run a brush through your mixture, and repeat the practice.

Options: Using Interference Fluids over dark backgrounds is very dramatic. Try basecoat with a bright Pyrrole Red, and use Interference Violet or Green for the Moire pattern. Or use a velvet-like Matte Fluid Ultramarine Blue with a Gold Interference.
