Important: Golden Artist Colors provides these recipes as points of departure for exploring Golden products in faux finishing applications.

GOLDEN strongly recommends samples be created before attempting to apply these techniques to walls, some techniques will be difficult to remove or to cover at a later date.

Please contact the technical support team before application if there are concerns or questions at 1-800-959-6543.

Step 1.
Roll base coat over entire surface and allow to dry.

Step 2. Roll Ivory Black Glaze evenly onto the surface. Cover an area no larger than you can reach and do not allow the surface to dry.

Step 3. Twist a damp, clean cotton rag, into a loose cylindrical shape with plenty of folds. Roll the rag over surface area in a random pattern, lifting the glaze. After each pass, change the shape and position of the rag. Be sure to rinse your rag and ring it out well as it becomes saturated with glaze. Allow the surface to dry.

Step 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the next glaze colors: Crimson and Gold Opal. Allow the surface to dry in between each glaze application.

Tips:

  • You can continue to build up different colored glaze layers with this technique. Be sure to allow each color to dry before applying the next.

  • For a softer look, use a Badger Softener after you have ragged off the glaze in step-3, before it has a chance to dry.
