Important: Golden Artist Colors provides these recipes as points of departure for exploring Golden products in faux finishing applications.

GOLDEN strongly recommends samples be created before attempting to apply these techniques to walls, some techniques will be difficult to remove or to cover at a later date.

Please contact the technical support team before application if there are concerns or questions at 1-800-959-6543.

Step 1.
Roll on Black Gesso, apply two coats if necessary and allow each layer to dry.

Step 2. Mix together Regular Gel (Semi-Gloss) with Fluid Iridescent Pearl and Heavy Body Interference Green (Fine). This should be at a 10:1:1 ratio.

Step 3. Apply the Regular Gel (Semi-Gloss) mixture to the Black Gesso surface using the putty knife. This layer should have a varied thickness, allowing more and less of the Black Gesso to show through in different areas. Next, draw small fan like strokes using the tip of a fitch brush. Begin at one edge and draw these strokes in rows. Overlap the brushmarks so that the beginning and end of each stroke is covered by those in the next row. This will remove some of the gel, which should be wiped off onto a papertowel. When the drawing is complete, allow the surface to dry.

Step 4. Using a damp rag, rub the Heavy Body Interference colors over the surface in the following order: Interference Green over 100% of the surface; Interference Orange over 75% of the surface; and Interference Blue over 25 % of the surface. Allow each color to dry before applying the next.

Step 5. Once the Interference color layer has dried, use the putty knife to apply a thin layer of Regular Gel (Gloss) over the entire surface. The Regular Gel (Gloss) will fill in the low areas to become flush with the Regular Gel (Semi-Gloss) layer and will also impart a glossy sheen and enhanced deeper look to the interference surface.
