Important: Golden Artist Colors provides these recipes as points of departure for exploring Golden products in faux finishing applications.

GOLDEN strongly recommends samples be created before attempting to apply these techniques to walls, some techniques will be difficult to remove or to cover at a later date.

Please contact the technical support team before application if there are concerns or questions at 1-800-959-6543.

Painting Instructions:

Step 1. Mix up three separate mixtures of Soft Gel (Gloss) with each of the Fluid colors: Interference Oxide Red, Iridescent Pearl, and Interference Orange.

Step 2. Using a putty knife, apply stripes of each color running parallel to each other and allow to dry. It is okay if some "skips" in the finish appear.

Step 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 using mixtures of the three Fluids mixed with Soft Gel (Semi-Gloss) and apply the stripes in the opposite direction. Allow the surface to dry.

Step 4. Apply thinner bands of Fluid Iridescent Pearl mixed with Soft Gel (Gloss) over a few of the larger bands and draw texture into it using the palette knife. Repeat in the opposite direction with a mixture of Fluid Interference Orange mixed with Soft Gel (Gloss). Allow the surface to dry.

Tips:

  • Apply more layers to add visual complexity. However, be sure to allow areas below each layer to show through the following layers.
