I want to paint some large cardboard file boxes to use as plant stands. Should I paint them with acrylics, wall latex paint or what?
This sounds like a great way to convert boring and unimaginative boxes into great conversation pieces. We would suggest a combination of Latex house paints and Acrylic artist paints.

You can use the less expensive house paints for base coating, and then the acrylics for adding bright color and to achieve some decorative & painterly effects. We would also suggest sealing them with either a waterbased Polyurethane or what is known as a "clear protector" which can be found in places like Lowes or Home Depot in the house paint sections. These will make them easier to clean.

For our products, pretty much anything can be used for this. Decorative glazes, Iridescents and Interference colors, and the Heavy Body and Fluid acrylics.
