Post print drying

If printing on top of the Digital Ground White (Matte), the porous ink-jet coating allows prints to dry extremely rapidly. As a result, the printed substrate will be dry right out of the printer and can be handled without too much concern for smearing of the image.

Similarly, printing on a porous surface will also usually dry quickly, allowing for handling and further work soon after the substrate is printed.

When printing on non-porous materials like acetate, plastic and metal that have been coated with Digital Ground for Non-Porous Surfaces, the image may still be fragile when it comes out of the printer. Allow the image to dry, so that it is no longer tacky, before handling.

Before using any of these printed images as components in a larger work, see Testing printed artwork for water sensitivity.
