Discontinuation of Garnet Gel

Finding a consistent supply of raw materials for Garnet Gel has been a struggle in the last few years, particularly with the coarse and extra coarse grits.  As some of you may recall, in 2006 the color of Garnet Gel (Extra Coarse) changed significantly when we were required to switch to a different supplier.  A similar problem has recently arisen with Garnet Gel (Coarse). 

Upon careful review and with consideration for continued raw material supply and consistency problems, we have decided not only to refrain from moving forward on a coarse grit replacement, but to discontinue production of all grits of Garnet Gel, effective at the end of 2008.

Moving forward into 2009, if you have need for Garnet Gel and are unable to find it through your regular retail channels, Garnet Gel, with its variability in color, will be available as a GOLDEN Custom product and can be specially ordered through our Customer Service department by calling 1-800-959-6543.

With the absence of these products in our offering, Technical Support staff thought it was important to offer you suggestions for ways to achieve textures similar to Garnet Gel, but using different products.  Here are the “Texture Equivalents” that we developed for you:

-- Garnet Gel (Fine) = Coarse Alumina 1:1 Regular Gel (Gloss)
-- Garnet Gel (Coarse) = Clear Granular Gel
