The Sam & Adele Golden Foundation™ for the Arts
Holds Silent Art Auction Benefit

Event Celebrates 10 Years, Honors Foundation Director’s Retirement

––– Columbus, NY, September 20, 2007

On Saturday, October 6, 2007, the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation™ for the Arts is holding a Silent Art Auction Benefit, offering for sale, works of some of the most acclaimed artists of our time to rural Upstate New York.  Longtime friends of the Golden Foundation and Golden Artist Colors, Inc. have donated artwork for the Silent Auction.  Included is artwork created by artists who have received the Golden Foundation Award as well as others with significant international acclaim and honors, including Anthony Caro, Kenneth Noland, Jamie Wyeth, Sam Gilliam, Larry Poons, Dale Chihuly, and Walter Darby Bannard.  The Foundation has received over 140 pieces of artwork for the Benefit.  All proceeds from the sale of work will benefit the endowment fund of the Golden Foundation.

“We are thrilled with the incredibly generous response we’ve received from the artists for this event,” said Golden Artist Colors, Inc. CEO, Mark Golden. “We are honored with their confidence in the value of our fairly new Foundation within the arts community.  We are looking forward to providing this opportunity for the community and staff here at GOLDEN to learn about and connect with some of the most amazing artists of our time while supporting the Golden Foundation.”

The evening will also be dedicated to honoring Foundation Director, Lucy Tower Funke on the occasion of her retirement.  “Lucy’s commitment and dedication to the Foundation and artist community has been incredible the last 10 years,” said GOLDEN President, Barbara Schindler.  “Her tireless efforts have helped foster and encourage artistic expression and the creative process for numerous artists and arts organizations, continuing the legacy of company founders, Sam and Adele Golden.”

All artwork for sale at the Benefit can been seen by visiting the Golden Foundation Web site, www.goldenfoundation.org, and selecting the “Benefit Art Auction Gallery” tab at the bottom of the page.  Artwork will be added to the site weekly.  Bidders do not need to be present to bid on the artwork; see the “Silent Auction Benefit Bid Fax Form” on the Foundation Web site for more details.   Faxed bids must be in by 4:00 p.m. the day of the auction.  Artwork for sale can be previewed on Friday, October 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The event, which will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Golden Artist Colors, Inc. facility in New Berlin, N.Y., will be a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception.  Tickets for the event are $30.00 in advance and RSVPs are required by September 25, 2007.  Call Amy Grant at 607-847-6154 or send a check to the Golden Foundation at 188 Bell Road, New Berlin, N.Y. 13411.
