Alysen Cornell

GOLDEN Adds Safety & Health Specialist to Environmental, Health & Safety and Facilities Department

Columbus, N.Y., October 31, 2006

Alysen M. Cornell recently joined Golden Artist Colors, Inc., as Safety & Health Specialist.  Cornell’s arrival enables the company to continue its long history of employing a dedicated, full-time professional to maintain vigilance of the occupational health and safety of the entire staff.  Cornell is responsible for developing and implementing employee health and safety programs throughout the facility as well as preparing and updating all documentation related to these areas.  She will also be instrumental in training employees in areas related to daily job responsibilities at the company.  Working with managers, supervisors and group leaders to ensure compliance issues are met according to OSHA rules and regulations will also be part of Cornell’s leadership role at GOLDEN.

Prior to joining GOLDEN, Cornell gained over three years experience in Health & Safety from Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA in the Wallops, Va. and Greenbelt, Md. locations.  While there, her responsibilities included facility inspections, evaluation of construction designs and contractor safety plans, as well as confirmation of employee equipment certifications.  Preparation of and response to NASA headquarters’ Environmental Health & Safety audits was also Cornell’s responsibility.

“We are fortunate to have Alysen, with her background and education, joining our company,” said Regulatory Affairs and Facility Director, Ben Gavett.  “Her enthusiasm for the job will serve us well.” Cornell attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2000.  She then received her Master of Science Degree in Safety Science in 2002 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Cornell is currently a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

Cornell resides in Afton, N.Y., and is involved with the Fokine Ballet Company in Oneonta.  She is looking forward to teaching classes at the Decker School of Ballet in spring 2007.
