Seductive Surfaces Weekend Workshop w/Georgia Mansur

Announcing a new workshop in Stradbroke, Suffolk UK for 2012!!~ ‘Seductive Surfaces~ Painting with Passion!' with Australian Artist/Instructor Georgia Mansur This workshop will offer you the opportunity to explore mixed media in a sensory way by 'dipping a toe into your personal river' of rich life experiences, memories and imagery to express yourself through creative experimentation. Using a wide range of prepared surfaces and materials combining acrylics, gels, pastes, digital grounds, fabric, fibre and other items to create hands-on (and like LIFE, sometimes messy) expressive pieces of art depicting simple but powerful messages drawn from the endless range of human emotions. The most powerful art touches people on an emotional level and this workshop will give you the tools to access that power to express it through your work. Even if you are not a mixed media artist, this right brain, liberating experience will create a new pathway for self-expression that will transfer into your other work. Themes might include (but are not limited to) water, flora & fauna or the human form ~ your imagination and personal life experience will play a big part in your subject matter. This workshop will help you connect to your creative voice with passion, make a statement, and communicate it through your art. Be prepared to push yourself out of your comfort zone, loosen up and get messy! Be assured you will have some exciting pieces of original art to take home and achievable goals to help you continue on your artistic journey. Open to allcomers 16years and over~ no experience necessary, Beginners welcome! Dates: 13/14 June 2012, (9am to 4pm) at the Stradbroke, Suffolk Community Centre, UK. Information about the forthcoming workshop to be held in Stradbroke (near Eye) Suffolk on Wednesday 13th June and Thursday 14th June 2012 by the acclaimed Australian artist, Georgia Mansur is attached. A little bit about Georgia: 'Award-winning international artist and tutor Georgia Mansur grew up in California and moved to Australia in 1984, and now lives on her family’s vineyard in Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia. She is experienced in all media and has a particular passion for painting en plein air. As a teacher, her positive approach and friendly manner ensures every student feels really comfortable, whether they are a raw beginner or seasoned professional artist. Georgia will demonstrate exciting ‘seductive surfaces’ and mixed media techniques every day as well as guiding students with their own subject matter and vision to create truly unique and personal works of art. Many students say after working with Georgia they have reconnected to their playful creative child that has been dormant for so many years. For some it is a life changing experience that impacts into other areas of their life and regular work, shaking loose some long held beliefs about themselves and their artistic abilities. She says: “I love to see my students producing the beautiful work that comes from a good understanding of the foundations and concepts necessary for painting success. Learning to see ‘as an artist sees’, interpreting and and simplifying the complexity of subjects, injecting emotion through use of colour, texture and design incorporating intuitive right brain skills increases their painting skills exponentially. More importantly, students are having good, messy FUN~ something we don’t make the time to do nearly enough! ”' Georgia is also a certified Golden International Artist Educator Please check out Georgia's website at www.georgiamansur.com/ The workshop will be a 2 day session, to be held in Stradbroke, Suffolk on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th June 2012. The cost will be £30/day/student plus £15 for materials to be supplied by the tutor. Alternatively, students can provide their own materials as per the list attached. Please let me know if this of any interest to you so that we can start to put the arrangements in place. A small deposit will be asked in order to secure a place on this exciting and motivational workshop from a truly inspirational International artist.

Using OPEN Acrylics

The working properties of the new range of OPEN colours and mediums is the focus for this one day workshop. These unique acrylic paints have much in common with oils in that they stay workable for much longer than regular acrylics and can be used for applications not generally well suited to fast drying paints. The workshop will begin with a talk and demonstration of four different painting techniques which will show some of the advantages of OPEN over regular acrylics. This will cover blending, dry brushing, subtractive painting and monotype printing. You will then choose what you would like to do and move through the day at your own pace, making up to four small art works.

Paints With Panache - Iridescent and Interference Colours

This one day workshop will give you experience of using a variety of special paints known as interference and iridescent colours. They achieve their reflective properties by synthetically reproducing something of natures beauty – the pearlescent qualities found in fish scales, the dust of a butterflys wing, and the shiny and reflective qualities found in certain metals. New Zealand’s Paua shell will be used as inspiration and you will make two small paintings, and an iridescent acrylic skin which you can use in future paintings or craft work. You will also experience how to enliven and enhance your favourite colours with the addition of paints from the iridescent range. Painting methods used throughout the day include extrusion resist, dry brush work, and water media techniques. You will use top quality professional acrylic products, including OPEN, fluid, iridescent and interference paints, pastes, gels and mediums.
